Guide to LoopNet’s Updated Features

Search Multiple Locations at Once
We’ve updated our filters so you can search multiple zip codes, cities or counties at once. Simply click on the “Filters” button at the top of search results and enter either a zip code, city or county (add additional entries with a comma).

Have a specific listing in mind?
You can search for a specific property ID or property IDs  at once. Click on the “Filters” button at the top of search results and enter the specific property ID in the search box (separate multiple Property IDs with a comma).

Get a different perspective on your search results
Our new layout allows you to toggle between list view and map view by clicking on “List” or “Map” in the top left corner of search results. On the map view you can also switch to Aerial view for a more realistic look at the topography of a specific area.

Nifty tools to narrow your search
We’ve upgraded our map search tools. Now you can draw a specific search area right on the map by clicking “Draw.” Hmm…looks like we left our heart in San Francisco.

If you are looking for listings within a specific radius of another listing, our Radius search tool is quick and easy to use. Simply, click “Radius” and move your mouse in or out to increase or decrease the radius.

Interested in the demographics around a listing?
We have lite demographics available on all our listings. Simply open a listing and scroll down to the Research section and click on the Demographics link.

These are great, but your prices have gone out of control! I always maintained a loopnet account for my team and my investor’s reference, but your new prices do not make that possible any more

  • Jimmy Goodman

Why can you no longer search by multiple states? This feature is key for investors buying across the country.

    • LoopNet

Hi Jimmy, we are working to reinstate that search feature. We’ll provide an update when it’s back. Thanks for your patience as we work through some issues with the new website launch.

  • John Feeney

It is nice that the search has been updated to include multiple cities, zip codes and counties, however the one missing search feature is that users can no longer search multiple states. I think it would be in your best interest to reevaluate and add the feature to search multiple states at one time. It is not a solution to be able to draw on the map.

Users used to be able to search for properties within in “x” miles of a specific location. Again, not drawing a radius on a map but being able to search.

Lastly, LoopNet removed the sort feature by property name. This is critical when searching for properties with specific tenants. Again, you should reevaluate this issue.

    • LoopNet

Hi John, thanks for your feedback. Our development team is actually working on bringing back all of the preexisting search features (multiple states, withing x miles, and so on). We’ll provide an update when these features are back.

The upgrade is a disaster. I talked with some customer service people several weeks ago and I still don’t see any change. The problems are:

    1. Switching to another saved search is clumsy.

I have multiple saved searches. When I am on a search result list, there used to be a drop-down of my saved searches, and I could just pick one to run that search. Now this drop-down is gone, and I have to click my name at right corner, then go to Saved Searches page to run it.

    2. Search result list do not display lot size properly.

Most result displays ‘On Request / SF Lot’ for lot size, although they do have lot size info available when you click open them.

    3. Search result list has too much display gap.

    4. Listing does not show ‘Demographics’ link under Research any more. I use that heavily.

    5. Save property to Watch Property folders would not display all folders.

    6. For a saved property, you have no way to know which folder it is, and you have to browse your folders one by one to find it, brute force.

    7. “Sales Comps” and “Property Records” are too important features, and they are kind of hiding in the bottom of homepage (ONLY!).

Please, do something to fix them!!!!

    • LoopNet

Hi Wei, apologies for your frustration with the new site. Our development team is actually working on bringing back all of the preexisting search features. The Demographics links wil be back on listings tomorrow. We’ll provide an update when the rest of the search features are back.

      • Wei Liu

It takes forever to fix them???

Two words. BETA TEST. BRING BACK THE OLD WEBSITE. SPEND SOME MONEY AND DO SOME TESTING FIRST. LISTEN TO YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS. HIRE PROGRAMMERS THAT KNOWS WHAT THE HECK THEY’RE DOING AND HAVE AN IT DEPT THAT KNOWS REAL ESTATE. ALL THIS FANCY PANSY STUFF MIGHT GET MORE CLICKS BUT DOES NOTHING FOR REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONALS. WAKE UP LOOPNET BEFORE THERE’S A EXODUS.

Why are businesses opportunities for sale included in my search when I never asked for it? Pictures should not be the highlight of the website. The vast majority of these uploaded pictures are of lousy quality, frequently taken by low budget point and shoot cameras or worse yet, a cell phone. It is also misguided to have the address of each property as the primary headline. I am sorry but I am not Google Map, I am not familiar with every address that exist. I am more interested in the description of the property first. Make that bold and easier to read. Loopnet members are primarily interested in commercial properties, we are not interested in this neighborhood or that street. There’s something called MLS already. That’s for residential! All this map doodling is is frankly unnecessary and just silly and a waste of resources! What made the previous version of Loopnet so efficient was everything was there, subcategories, etc, all on one page. Sure, we could use a few more reports. I have lost faith in Loopnet! We are in March 2016 already. Nothing has changed! This is a publicly listed company? Do something,,,please!

    • LoopNet

Hi Paul, thanks for your comments. We are continuously optimizing the site, so we will take your suggestion about listing title (address vs. description) into account. Also, we are still in the process of bringing back some features from the previous version of LoopNet and will provide an update on the blog when they’re back. Thank you.
