Who is searching LoopNet and what are they searching for?

We are commonly asked: “Who is searching LoopNet and what are they searching for?” To answer these questions we decided to explore LoopNet’s activity in 2013.

With over 5 million monthly visitors and more than 7 million registered members – we definitely had some data to work with. We took a look at searcher behavior, market popularity, average pricing and also threw in a few other interesting facts from 2013.

Based on the analysis, it seems that LoopNet is still the marketplace of choice for tenants and investors searching for commercial real estate – and they are searching for all types of properties, both for sale and for lease.

Here’s A Quick Summary:

LoopNet Searchers (LoopNet is clearly a favorite of tenants and investors)

  • 76% of the searchers were tenants and investors and only 14% were brokers
  • 47%  were searching For Lease and 53% were searching For Sale
  • The average lease search was 12,124 sq ft.  The average sale search was 22,251 sq ft.
Mobile Usage (Becoming more and more popular)
  • 51% mobile usage increase from 2012 to 2013
